How is your shot placement? Shoulder shots will drain a lot from an arrow, and hit the shoulder on the boney ridge, and it'll downright stop. How many deer have you shot, that you've gotten poor penetration on? You can't judge by just one. Also, how far away are you shooting the deer? Give us some more info, and maybe we can all put our heads together, and figure this out for you.
