RE: 3" or 3.5" Remington 870 ???
There is very little need forthe 3 1/2. I have shot one owned by a friend against my 3 inch Beretta and the only practical differenceI can find is that his kicks worse. Depsite the 3 1/2 inch shells holding a little more shot his gun doesn't pattern nearly as well as mine either. And after shooting high powered turkey loads out of his gun at cardboard targetsjust the thought of pointing that gun straight up and shooting a high powered 3 1/2 inch shell at a duck or a goose makes my shoulder spasm. Ditto on the comments about magnumitis eating up people in this country. I think the need for a 3 1/2 inch shotgun is nothing but marketing hype. Heck, a lot of the really experienced turkey hunters in my neck of the woods are starting to use 20 gauge or even 410 shotguns to hunt turkey because they are lighter more maneuverable and easier to hold steady for long periods while waiting on an old tom to strut into gun range.
