RE: MOre on rifles
Yup, I answered a thread just like this one on another BB. I just can't believe that anyone could think that the accuracy of a gun and the shooter have anything in common. While in the service I shot some of the most accurate firearms known to man and did quiet well with them. I can still make those shots with the right equipment. Would I take one of those to the woods with me? He11 no!!!! I don't have that kind of energy. In 42 yrs of hunting deer and other large game the longest shot I have made was about 250yds, most have been in the 50 to 75yd range. This fellow is apperently fixated on the marine sniper units and figures that if he can't be one he will pretend to be. I'm sorry if this sounds brutal but we do get tired of repeating the same thing over and over. The Mod 700VS in 7mm will shoot as well as any standard rifle in 7mm. there is not that much difference and holding even 4" groups at 700+ yards (300yds for that matter) is something that the average joe just can't do with an off the shelf gun.
We had people like this try out (to shoot long range for special assignment) but only 1 or 2 out of maybe every 500 would even get past the first round of firing. Sorry if I got long winded but it just kind of gripes my butt.
