Don't get to discouraged dude... Learning how to call well with the mouth call takes some time!!!
I would suggest getting a few instructional DVD's on learning the mouth call and rent a few turkey hunting DVD's and watch those also...
And when it comes to practic. Practic often... I really dont think there is any such thing as to much practic when it comes to the mouth Diaphram!!!
For me it took me about 3 spring turkey season before I felt as thoe my calling sounded like I new what I was doing
Very sound advice!!!Alot of helpful tools out there to help the new caller along and Mr.Longbeard makes a good point in steering you in that direction.I would also suggest taking a hard look at the paticular call you have recieved.Any gift from mom is a good one but trust me when I say some manufactured calls can be difficult to operate even for the novice caller.A double reed is imho a great beginner call....keep trying,keep working on the mechanics of operating a diaphragm call and than dont be afraid to experiment with other makes and models of the diaphragm call....Bob
