Maybe not like the black death, but they won't go through there unless they have to. Deer aren't any different than any other animal, they will take the path of least resistance whenever possible. That is why things such as saddles on ridge tops are such good funneling areas. If you can find a place that is dry through that swampy area, you just may want to hunt there.
