RE: 7600 Range Rpt - I got a shooter!!!
I have a 7600 carbine in 06 and use a Williams peep sight without the insert. I painted the edge of the sight red and have a fire dot red front bead. I use the gun when I hunt the thicker woods of Northern Maine and New Hampshire. When hunting in snow it is easy to acquire the target and if you see brown through the sight it is down. It is pretty compact and light to carry without a scope and works like a charm as a fast shooting brush gun. I load with factory Federal 180 gr Nosler Partitians. My only problem with the setup was that the gun came new with a monte carlo style stock (made for a scope). I worked with Remington and they sold me a straight stock from a rem 20 ga shotgun that fit right on the action without any gun smithing. It is now similar to the older version of the 760. The accuracy is puzzling for me. I usually sight in at 50 - 100yds on the range and the darn thing groups better than some of my scoped rifles. I thought I had something special but now I can read that there are others who share my experience with a 7600.
