It sure is possible. I personally went to a proshop to get set up, but their weren't such things as proshops 25 years ago and people were successfully hunting. You can get a good bow on ebay/internet, but be carefull. If you plan on setting it up yourself, do a lot of shooting and experiment with different options. But it is definitly can be done.
