When I sight in my rifle I wait at least 5 minutes between each shot to let the barrel cool. With my gun, as the barrel gets hotter the shots progressively move higher and to the left. I think most guns will do this but maybe move in a different direction. I will also run a patch with a little solvent through it and then 2 or 3 dry patches after each shot. Depending on you and your gun/scope combo 1 1/2 to 2 inch groups are good for hunting in my opinion although we'd all like to be able to shoot a 5 shot 1/2 inch goup at 100 yards. As for the Federals, I wouldn't use them either since they had the worst group. The fact that they were high and left is no big deal, just the group size is the problem. Just keep the barrel cool and clean and you should be just fine.
