The first day this year is one I will always remember. I took my 10 year old son with me for his first time deer hunting. We started on Thanksgiving morning when we went up on the mountain to get the stand ready we were going to use by hanging mesh netting up around it and putting a bench seat in to sit on. Monday morning was pretty cold but we were pretty well prepared with hand warmers, foot warmers and body warmers as well as boot blankets for him and I really had to hand it to him, he toughed it out when lots of my buddies were back at their trucks. We sat all day seeing 30+ deer and 4 bucks only the last of which was legal, at ten minutes till 4 in the afternoon. He was chasing a doe down off of the top of the mountain and stopped directly in front of our stand at 15 YARDS! He is a pretty nice 5 point about 12" wide, not nearly as big as a lot I've gotten but a very special one nonetheless. He loved every aspect of the day and even took the antlers to school for show and tell the next day. One more PA hunter will be in the woods in a few years.
