I hate to see someone get rid of a gun for any reason. I have sold a few and still regret it. Yeah, it may be overkill for 100 yard shots but like you said, you may like to take a trip to hunt bigger game and need a larger caliber. I would suggest you set your scope forward just a hair more than it is and try a different bullet. Check out the Reminggton Managed-recoil loads. They are supposed to reduce the recoil by up to 50% and keep good accuracy out ot 200 yards. That should keep the scope off your face and be good for where you are hunting now. Then move back up to a different ammo in the future once you're ready. Heres a link so you can check them out.

Just an idea, can't hurt to go spend $15.00 on a box of shells if it may fix your problem. Good luck with the gun. Hopefully you'll be able to keep it and enjoy it.
