I don't clean my muzzleloader while hunting. I use 777 and I've never taken more than two shots on a hunt.

I would guess that a bore snake could work depending on what powder you're using. I know with 777 I get a very rough spot sometimes called th crude ring down near the breech. I would say that a bore snake could not take care of that completely.
