I don't think you will be happy with a woodsmaster 30-06. There is very little difference in recoil between the 7mm rem mag and the 30-06. There are several options available to reduce felt recoil. #1-check eye relief,#2-get GOOD recoil pad,#3-use 140-150 gr bullets,#4-think about a muzzlebreak. It sounds to me like you have a scope eye relief problem. Readjust your eye relief to the farthest away from your eye while still maintaining full field of view and then shoot it.
