As for me, I would rather see all aspects of the hunts...why they selected their stand locations, aerial & topo maps, food sources (preferably natural food sources, not plots or feeders), etc. Even throwing in some more advanced habitat and herdmanagement techniques. Educate and entertain...doesn't seem to me that one has to be sacrificed for the other.
Good post. I feel the same way. I enjoy hunting videos but most of them should just be called shooting videos. They briefly mention why the guide sat them in their particular stand and within a few minutes(of footage anyway) they kill a deer. I would like to see more in regards to the tactical side. Aerial photos, topo maps, stand sites, wind directions, temperatures, weather info for a couple of days before and after, moon, food sources, bedding areas, etc. etc. etc. With all the resources some of these shows have you would think they could take maps and photos and turn them into some kind of computer animation to give you more of an overview of how everything came together and sometimes do it on a non-ranch type place (public or private) and showit all the way from selecting an area, to researching it, to selecting stands, then hunting. I know they may not be able to do that for every hunt on every video but even if they did a couple it would be much more valuable to me.
