Default RE: Deer hunting videos

I agree, the people making these videos talk too much and do not show enough respect for the animal taken. They run up to them and start acting like theyhave never taken a deer before that moment. Not all are like that, but whatdo you expect when those videos are driven by marketing. They're busy trying to thank the guide, the outfitter, the ranch, the arrow manufacturer, the bow maker, the scent company, the camo clothes provider...everything but the animal for giving its life. Most hunters have a natural humility and respect for the animal they hunt. Some do not. Too bad that most of those making the videos are not of those that do.

As for archery versus gun hunting, the reason that most of the shows have mostly archery hunts rather than gun hunts is because the archery seasons are longer, typically have more liberal limits and offer a chance for better video footage as a result of having to be a lot closer for a shot.

As for me, I would rather see all aspects of the hunts...why they selected their stand locations, aerial & topo maps, food sources (preferably natural food sources, not plots or feeders), etc. Even throwing in some more advanced habitat and herdmanagement techniques. Educate and entertain...doesn't seem to me that one has to be sacrificed for the other.
