This is a true statement. There is no true 100 yards gun, but you would have to MAJORLY "lob" a 44 magnum to get a 240 gr bullet to travel a mile. If you look at a ballistics chart (I usually use Winchester for reference), a 240 gr silvertip 44 magnum with a 100 yards zero has a 305 inch drop at 500 yards and retains only 245 ft/lb energy at that distance. Unless you "lob", a six foot man aiming in a horizontal plane at a deer would be plowing ground with his bullet inside 300 yards. Yes, a 44 magnum is more than a 100 yard gun (theoretically), but it is far from a mile gun.
