I have twice as many years in the woods as you (40), during that time I have hunted herds ranging from ones like yours to the herds that I hunt today. I worked hard to accuire these spots. Because rule number 1... If you want to hunt for mature bucks, you have to hunt where they live. I did my homework and got what I desired.
Don't take this wrong, but I thought mature bucks were every where. You just had to begreat hunter to successfully get one. So what about those unfortunate souls who don't have access to hunt where all the mature bucks roam?

I too think that mature bucks are everywhere and that you do have to be a pretty decent hunter to consistantly get them. If they are everywhere, then they are where all those poor souls hunt also. If those poor souls want to hunt better spots that hold more mature bucks, then they should get off their dead butts and go find some better spots. It worked for me. Do you guys think that I was born in the middle of my spot, or that it fell from the sky right into my lap? The spot that I'm hunting right now took over three years to get. I also have a spot that is an hour and 15 min. drive me, which I do daily. I have spots which are 4 hours away too. But then I stay up there for a while. It is up to you to find a spot that suits your needs. There are no poor souls, just some who want it bad enough that they do what it takes to get it.
