Obviously what you describe is odd and by your description "almost a straight on shot" most experienced hunters would consider this a foolish shot. What are you expecting? Everyone to say you did good or don't let it bother you? Sorry. Isn't going to happen nor should it. But take it for what its worth and it is worth something. Sometimes its better to let off and let an animal walk than to take a marginal shot. Try it sometime. You might enjoy it. Now you can get mad and go away or you can stick around and participate.
