I’ve been having the itch for a 6.5 caliber rifle for some time now and I’m having a hard time deciding between the two. They are both offered in the same rifle I’m interested in. They are both very similar in cartridge size except the 6.5 x 55 is slightly larger, but when looking at my Nosler reloading book the 260 Rem. seems to have a slight edge on velocity. Either one would be reloaded so ammo availability is not an issue. Can the 6.5 x 55 be reloaded to surpass the 260 Rem. and is there really an advantage between one over the other being that both rifles would be equal in handling reloads. My impression is just the flip of a coin and the choice would be done. Does someone have something to add that I just might have missed...
