RE: What am i doing wrong?
Calling could be a big help if you have had no luck with playing "the passer by." I hunted in E.Texas two weeks ago and when there was just enough light i turned over the bleat can followed by three quick grunts from the tube and within 5 min. i had 1 doe, 1 ten point (3.5), 1 eight point (2.5)and 1 four (1.5) point come out, almost in single file. it wasn't so much that the buck was looking for the grunt, but the doe looking for the bleat. just like in many parts of the season there is a time and place for every call, but the doe bleat will bring indoes, and in the rut that is what you want. During that trip i used that doe bleat to single handedly dismantle a 2.5 year old 8 point bucks senses; He was running back and forth between the cut and the woods on both sides that i was hunting intrying to find thedoe.
I would tell you that the best learing method to becoming a better hunter is trial and error.I have been hunting for 20 years now andI have made a boat load of mistakes, but the moreI made the moreI learned...do not fear failure or you are sure to.
