One of the guys I hunt with has an 870 that he has had for nearly 30 years, and only gets cleaned after the season (we hunt everything, in any weather) and it had never misfired on him. That says a lot about how they are built to me.
I agree... I know a duck hunter who has a 1956 Rem 870 and this shotgun just won't die! I mean, it's got rust, it's scratched up, it's banged up, it's been dropped in the mud, etc...etc... and it still knocks 'em dead!
For those shopping for a shotgun: Get a Remington 870... 30-40 years from now, you can give it to your grandson and he'll continue hunting with it.
