RE: Fellow slug gun hunters, need input
I absolutely would go with a remington 1100. I have a 12 gauge which has very little recoil relative to other guns I own. I also have an older model 20 gauge remington 1100 built on a 12 gauge frame and recoil is barely noticeable, however you can not get rifled barrels, (or any new factory barrel for that matter). I ownwinchester and ithaca pumps in 12 gauge and the recoil is very noticeable. I have a 20 gauge Ithaca which kicks just as bad as the 12 gauge since it is a lighter gun. I do have an ithaca deerslayer IIin 12 gauge which is much heavier and almost fun to shoot, but you would have to find one used. I have never had a need for 3" shells, (the 2 3/4 are plenty accurate out to 100 yds), so I would go with a new or even used 1100. Rifled barrels are readily available. Sounds like you all ready have what you are looking for.
