RE: Lost Hunting Land......Any Advice from WI?
CH: I don't mean to sound blunt, but <BLOCKQUOTE id=quotequote:
As for knocking on doors, since wisconsin has set so many records in the record books for bucks and also holds the former world record typical most landowners will not allow you on their property so that you will not shoot any of their big bucks. I understand how they want to be the ones to shoot the big bucks but what about regulating the deer herd and also allowing the sport of hunting to continue moving forward? All I have ever heard is not to expect to get onto private land anywhere around here.

For one, find out if any of these private lands are in the forest reserve or other state funded programs. A lot have to allow access, and some even supply a parking lot.
quote:
As for knocking on doors, since wisconsin has set so many records in the record books for bucks and also holds the former world record typical most landowners will not allow you on their property so that you will not shoot any of their big bucks. You have to get out in the woods and look for sign. learn where they eat and where they feel secure enough to bed and you have it licked for the most part. Trial and error pal, JUST DO IT!
