This my first year of hunting public land exclusively. (tho' if anybody wants to take me hunting on private land.. just say the word

)
It certainly is a whole different ball of wax. Just seeing a deer is a trick. I've been checking out the sign in/sign out sheets and up until just recently hardly anybody has been seeing anything. On the 1400 acre Mackinaw public area there were
75 hunters out there on opening day. So far only 16 deer have been taken on that property.
Some guys out there are looking for a trophy, but most are like Bulz and I. Any deer that's made out of venison will do.
I went out 10 times and only saw one deer while I was hunting. Yesterday (day 11) I was surrounded by deer --when I was trying to climb down the tree. (it was most entertaining) So, I'm hopeful that sooner or later (hopefully sooner) a deer will show up during shooting hours and I'll have some fresh meat in the freezer. And like Bulz said, then I can get picky.
Good luck again to Snuffy and Johnny B! I know how hard it is to get a good spot... and hope you guys get the big bucks!!
