No Doubt that it would do the job you want done. I had a client that used one for Mule deer every year that he booked. He sure didn't like to shoot it unless he had to. Its more than a match for any plains game or anything running around Alaska.
That is about the truest statement that can be said of the .340 Weatherby Magnum. Very powerful cartridge, and another classic in the Weatherby line.
