Why would you want to tie it every time?
We are talking about the prussic knot which it ties to a main line. The main line remains on the tree. But I'm assuming that a hunter uses more then on tree stand. It would be a little more mobile I suppose. I'm assuming the hunter is also leaving it on when in the stand. I do.

That's the way I'd do it anyway. But I use an ascender which is basically doing the same thing, only it is much easier then trying the prussic knot. I really thought about each system, but to tell you the truth I think my chances of having my own hand tied prussic knot failing is greater then mechanical failure on the ascender.
