RE: SlickTrick Broadhead failure? (pics & long)
I have not used the Slick Trick heads, but but when I first started bowhunting many years ago, my partner shot a deer with a Bear head (that's about all we had in those days) and thought he had a perfect hit. Tracked the deer for 3 days and didn't get it, but some friends got it during rifle season and it had done just what you describe. The fletch looked like a perfect hit, but it had "glanced" and followed under the skin up into the brisket area - nothing leathal. I have since used Rocky Mountain 3 blade and now use Muzzy, but can see that under certain circumstances they could do the same. Have some go thru the deer and stick in the ground at a dumb angle, but figured the deer had started turning after the shot and before (or during) being hit. I am sure you are having staight arrow flight with all your shooting, but have seen some guys that complain about not getting pass-thru shooting 70#'s. I just tell them to get their arrows flying staight as if it is hitting sideways, it isn't going to do what you want. I'm old and have had pass thrus at 5l#.
