Pat,

The last 6 bows I have bought have been exactly that way.
I bought a Max 2000, Super Nova, and Red Man this year without ever having seen or shot one.
I went by what my friends, Pinwheel 12, Capo, Field 14, RobVos, Black Frog, MauiWes, Hit-Em and others told me about their bows, plus visiting the Merlin website and lookng them over.
Capo inspired me to buy the Red Man. He owns four of them and will hardly shoot anything else.
I am extremely pleased with all the bows and don't regret buying them sight unseen in the least.
They surpassed all my expectations.
Especially, the Super Nova.
Besides, in Louisville or Southern Indiana where I live no shops will let you test shoot a bow anyway and never have.
Hell, one shop will no longer let you draw one back!
I saw the Bowman at the 99' Indy shoot and had to have one but didn't shoot one then.
I couldn't care less about shooting one first. The bow's construction and craftsmanship jumped out at me like no other bow I had ever seen at the time. I knew, I would own one and ordered it the next year.
Had just bought a Mach 8 a few weeks earlier or would have ordered it on the spot.
Never shot my Mach 8, Mach 10, or Superstar before buying them either. Was not allowed to.
But was able to hold them and draw them back before buying them.
The other 3 bows I ordered sight unseen are my custom recurves.
It's kind of hard to go to Arkansas, Texas and Montana to test fire a recurve before you buy anyway.
I have adapted to the various grips of all my bows and don't find one that much superior to the next.
But, for me, the Max and Super Nova do feel more comfortable than the rest.
