Default Turkey Bowhunters

I was at Gander Mountain getting an estimate on revamping my compound bow for turkey season, when the bow tech said he would recommend using a device to impede arrow penetration. It was a 3-pronged piece that fit in-behind the broadhead that acted as a brake.
Anyone here use anything such as this? Is having an arrow pass through a turkey really a bad thing?
