I will take a chance on the wind if you do all of the scent control possible. It also depends on the severity of the wind. If its not gusting and you have complete scent control I would bet that the buck will get close enough for you to get a shot.

If he does get some scent I doubt it would be enough to deter him out of the area. If you have been hunting him for three years I would take a chance. Not too many deer live that long in my area.
