ORIGINAL: Blown Smoke
These are dry shooting patches made by Eastern Main.
Sorry I didn't metion that earlier, just wasn't thinking.
They have a good tight weave and seem to be good
patches for the money. As for the .015 size I have no
wayto mic them, so I'll just have totake the Mfg's word.
These measure about 1-5/16" across in Dia.
I was worried that they may be to tight a fit forthe .50cal
and cause alodged ballpart way down the barrelwhile loading.
I sure don't want to deal with a stuck ball.
If you are using the"most-often-found" .490s, you will probably be fine. All that may be needed is a slight fist slam on the bullet starter handle to get them started in the bore. From there, they should slide down fine. If you have the uncommon .495s, you will likely encounter a tight fit.
Inspect those patches after shooting. My butter-lubed tickerswith hot 777 powder canpossibly be reused -- they look that good. Let us know how the Econo patches hold up. Do you have a website for those?
