RE: deer hunting question
Simple. The caliber that will drop any game in North America with one well placed shot. Very good ( if not best ) chambering is.....................can we have a drum roll please.............and the answer is.........thurty aught six.
No attacks please just my 2 cents worth.
I'm in a very deep and personal relationship with my '0-6.
WWII era, genuine German Mauser. All numbers match. (No receipe of multiple donor guns here folks) Sporterized, the right way in the early 1960's. Shortned and properly crowned barrel with a nice rifled blade sight. Modified bolt to shorten throw and clear scope. Old Galaxy scope still works wonderfully on it's tip off mount. The ABSOLUTE most valuable part of this gun..........it was my Father's and he left it to me when he passed.
I don't shoot it as often as I should. But I keep it oiled and whenever I handle it...I think of Dad!
Miss ya Dad. Don't worry, me and your Grandson will get one for ya.
Heck, what am I telling him for? He'll be there to see it for himself!
