DG - I'm with ya on the .270 Wby Mag. It really is all the rifle anyone would ever need for non-dangerous North American big game. With it, I made the longest shot I've ever had a chance to take on a game animal: 325 yards on a large bull elk. At that range, the 150gr Nosler Partition absolutely pummeled the elk, and he died in his tracks. <img src=icon_smile_dead.gif border=0 align=middle> The damage done by the bullet was amazing.

Having studied the ballistics for the new .270 WSM, it should be a winner, as well. Maybe not quite as powerful as the Weatherby, but close enough so that no dead animal should ever know the difference. And I as you and I both know, all this long range performance and game-killing power comes very nicely packaged with very manageable recoil.

Are these two rounds near perfect, or what?
