I don't know which .270 Mag you're talking about but I've shot a .270 Wby Mag for 14 years and am here to tell you that it is one of the most impressive long-range rounds you can imagine, and it does it with very manageable recoil. I have shot many calibers at many types of animals, including such big numbers as the .338 Win Mag and the .300 Wby Mag, but if a 400 pt B&C bull showed himself across a canyon at say, 500 yards, and he was out in the open, and I had someone with me to spot, and the wind was right, and the light was right, and I had a perfect rest, the only rifle I would consider taking that shot with would be my .270 Wby Mag.
