RE: Shooting buttons.
Personal opinion plays a huge role in this so I won't condemn those who disagree with me (even though they're wrong)! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
The 2nd link provided was great and I had read similar assessments before. The author makes good sense and I agree with his philosphy.
I personally don't like to take immature deer of either sex. On my son's first hunt, I had told him not to shoot fawns and, sure enough, a fawn walked around under him for about 3 hours--sometimes at point blank range. He left his bow on the hook and just watched. I was proud. When he DID finally get a shot, he harvested a beautiful P&Y 8 point! I have taken button bucks on a couple of occassions, but I mistook them for does. Choosing now to shoot only mature deer solves that problem. BTW--my signature (below) has been the same for years now.
Today's small bucks are tomorrow's trophies.
