The fact that you are nearsighted with slight astigmatism can pose the problem that you are describing. If your astigmatism is indeed only "slight" there is no reason you cannot wear contacts. Contacts made for astigmatism are called Toric lenses. A couple of the better lenses currently available are Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism by Vistakon and Soflens 66 Toric by Bausch and Lomb. A decent but inexpesive Toric is the Vertex Toric by Coopervision. You would enjoy your hunt so much more if you went this route. You should visit your local Optometrist well before season to get accustomed to your putting them in and taking them out. Good luck...
