RE: How to get the deer to stop walking to shoot?
I installed a traffic light with an infrared remote control right near my stand on the heavily used deer trail. When the deer come in, I click the remote to turn the traffic light red. The deer stop and wait for the light to turn green. Works perfect. In a pinch, I've used a homemmade stop sign but it doesn't work that great in low light conditions. Oh sure, occassionally I'll have these young "teenager" deer run the red light but that's okay since I want those deer to grow bigger racks anyways.
Give it a try.
