Default RE: Whitetails and cattle

I have a place much like your talking about. Have 3 different fields that we rotate the cattle around - Matter of fact this morning I was staying out at the hunting trailor and a deer was feeding off the salt block in the cattle feeder probably 20 yards from the trailor - go figure - One thing is for sure - when the shooting starts the deer will seek refuge - having this property to hunt by myself helds my odds at harvesting a deer just like the sixteen pointer taken last year! I have noticed however that the deer tend to avoid the herd - mainly sticking to the outside edges of the field or if the herd is located in another field the deer will populate the other more frequenly! With that being said - the cattle usually are in one field giving my the freedom to hunt the other two during season! Hope the helps you decide! I also believe that the deer probably do not pay much attention to cows located in their environmnet - theyare no serious threat like a coyote or human! Deer know the physical threats - cows like grass and corn - coyotes like meat - human like meat - deer are meat!
