RE: Let the bow tell you what it likes.
Excellent! Thanx for posting the pics.
Now I would like to make a couple of comments. You can see from this example how important FOC can be as well.
In addition, you did not mention in your original post your arrows were dipped and crested (or wrapped with the “fake” stuff). This will automatically stiffen your arrow shaft (as it adds weigh to the back end over a large area), and will affect FOC, and is probably the reason that the 125’s group better.
Years ago when I shot vanes and D&C’ed my arrows I found that experimentation was key to getting the best groups. Depending on how many coats of dip, and how much crest, and how long the coat was could drastically affect arrow flight. I remember one set-up in particular: My first HCA Machined Supreme. 70 pounds 29” draw length. I was shooting 3-49’s with a white dip, and flex fletch vanes. I was using half-outs so I had extra weight up front….75’s 85’s and 90’s no go…125’s no go…100’s were the only thing that would group that well past 20 yards. In addition one time I accidentally triple dipped some shafts, and only double dipped some others…talk about some screwy groups…Interesting thing though is once I went to non-dipped 3-49’s it would shoot anything I put through it…75’2, 85’s, 90’s ,125’s..didn’t matter with the D&C I just messed with the spine and FOC enough to where the set-up was picky.
The new “fletch wrap” things will also affect the spine and FOC in a similar way, as it’s the weight and where it is along the shaft that causes the variance.
Great shooting BTW. I love when I’m in the groove and can stack em like that at 40! (and wish it was more often!)
