I found advertised a 1941 M1 Garand in a paper sporting goods. I've not yet talked to the owner and want to now the "right" questions to ask first. Example:
What is the manufacturer? (Can I verify this by the serial # or other markings?)
Seller says the rifle is in "very good" condition? (I know there are ratings that organizations like Civil Marksmanship Program (CMP) use. But how do I know what the real rating of the rifle is, take it to a licensed gunsmith?)
What would be the ballpark on a rifle that is in very good visible dna operating condition?
Is it reasonable to ask for the serial # of the rifle and can I check that # online anywhere to get more history on the rifle?
