RE: Need Help, Accuracy
OK, here's the way I see it. My other two Accumarks I have no problem shooting well under WBY's claim of 1.5 inch. In fact, I looked at my last 30 378 target and 3 shots under 1/2 inch. Now, I don't do anything special to achieve these groups. Idon't go out on a super windy day, but I place my gun on the bags, not paying any special attention on how it is done, and I shoot. My goal is not to make the gun super accurate and I don't shoot competitively. I in fact probably wouldn't be on here if the gun shot a consistent 1.5 inch group. I paid anextra 150 bucks or so to have the sub MOA, just so I knew the rifle would be a good shooter. Weatherby does not do anything special to these rifles, they justset asideactions/barrels that shoot well, charge a little more and engrave sub moa on them.
I do not know if the barrel is bad or not. I will say that when I clean it, it has always had an area in the mid barrel where the resistance tothe brush or pad would change. I do not have this on any other of my guns, but if it means anything I don't know.
Butnow the point of this has kind ofchanged. I appreciate your suggestions and help, I really do. I was willing to have the rifle glass bedded and pay 160 bucks for this. But now, from what I was told by the people who make the barrels, Weatherby did not use a Criterion barrel which they claim they use.So the accuracy issue has become a mute point. The point is that the gun is not what I paid for, and Weatherby will at the very least, put the Criterion barrel on the rifle.
Now, some of you might think I'm crazy, and I should just fix it myself. That is your opinion, but I tell you you are the very best friends of these companies.I do not believe it is outrageous to hold a company to its writen claims. I will be hearing from Criterion on Monday.
