RE: Need Help, Accuracy
OK boys, you are not going to believe this............Let me give you the entire history. I ordered the gun through the custom gun shop in summer of 03. I ordered a 7mm WBY Accumark with desert camo stock and titanium nitride coated metal work, with a Sub MOA only available on certain calibers, in the Accumark. All Accumarks have a aluminum bedding block and a Criterion Button Rifled barrel. Criterion, a sister company of Kreiger. The gun came in in the fall of 03, I went to pick it up, and ended up sending it back (never even took it home) because the barrel was tight against the stock in the barrel channel. I couldn't even slide a dollar bill through it. There was of course a large gap on the other side of the channel. I got it back, and could never get it to fire a 3 shot group sub MOA. I returned the brand new scope to Luepold, they rebuilt it andthe gunwas better but still not right. I later sent the gun back to Weatherby after many conversations with the custom shop, and they touched up the crown (they said there was minimal damage, possible from a ram rod or cleaning) and shot two 3 shot groups and returned the gun to me with the targets. I only clean my guns from the receiver and never from the muzzle. I also checked the crown before it was sent in and there was no damage, but I figured whatever, as long as it shoots well now. I bought another new scope and mounted it, after taking to Tally directly for proper torque and procedure. I still could not get it to shoot well. I again had several conversations with the WBY custom shop, and basically gave up because I figured even at a couple inches off it would be good enough for hunting. I took it out a week ago and shot 2 shots almost in the same hole, then all the rest at least 2 inches high and wandering from L to R. I decided to look in the phone book and call a gunsmith to see if they had any suggestions. Ifound that Kreiger is 20 miles from my house so I called them, they said bring it in and we will look at it and we'll have Criterion take a look at it. They also suggested glass bedding. I called WBY and talked to the same guy I had talked to at least 8 times before. He said he didn't think it would need that. So I took the gun in on Mon. A guy from Criterion called me on Tues. with a few questions about how old the gun was, how many shells I ran through it, and how old my other WBY Accumarks were. I did not hear anything until today, when I called to check on the progress. The guy from Criterion wasn't available until Mon., but the guy I originally talked to from Kreiger had this bit of info for me. THE BARREL ON THE GUN IS NOT A CRITERION BARREL. IT IS A (I FORGET THE NAME, SAKO OR SOMETHING POSSIBLY) WHICH IS AN OLD BARREL THAT APPARENTLY WEATHERBY USED TO USE SOMETIME OR ANOTHER.
So, I submit to you this: the WeatherbyCustom Shop is either very incompetent, so much so that they don't know which barrel they are building a gun with, even after 2 more chances to see it, or Weatherby is building Accumarks with barrels that are not true to their claims. Sounds like what I would consider to be fraud. Furthermore, looking back at his questions on Tues., it is clear to me theyknew right away, as did Weatherby because they have been in contact. But, being the stand up company Weatherby could be, I have yet to get a call from them. I tell you this, I saved 1000 dollars be getting an accidental second opinon onmy refrigerator earlier this year, now an accidentalsecond opinion tells me I still don't have the gun I bought and paid for 3 years ago. What is wrong with people ?
