BB, first you have to train the horse for gun blast an second, the .357 works on close up headshots. If you want to hunt from a horse, use a .44 carbine or a .30-30 carbine.
My horses are good about the sound of gunfire. My problem is when the pig decides to rush my horse and I am only left with a staight on head shot. I have seen too many 9mm bounce right off that damn pig's head-plate.

So yeah, its the common dilema of firepower vs. carry-ablity. Sorry, can't do rifles.
