Unless, I have a target gun, I won't put anymore std base/rings on my guns. I did for years. I liked the feature to center the windage, but with a scope that you will never adjust for windage, its a waste. Also centering the rings with a kit is easier with a DD setup as you can get alignment tools to touch and you think its centered, but the windage adjust on the rear rings can actually make it canted.

You don't find this out until you go thru the rigerous task of lapping. Which I am a big advocate of. It takes me sometimes 3 hours to lap andcold blue rings.
