Default Encore Recoil Test

I recently acquired a T/C Encore in .300 Winchester Magnum. After a couple of break in shots, it seemed that this gun did not havemuch recoil. Started to wonder if I was getting tougher in my old age . . . . .

Today, I went to the range with four .300 Win Mags: The T/C, a Remington SPS, an older Remington 700 BDL, and a Ruger 77 All Weather SS. The overall weight of the rifles was very close between the T/C and both Remingtons. Ruger was ahalf pound lighter. Fired with the same load; the T/C was slightly milder than the SPS, which was a little milder than the 700 BDL - and all were ***** cats compared to the Ruger (ouch).

My point is that the stock design of the T/C encore (SS Camo Synthetic) appears to be a very good one to deal with heavy recoil -as in magnum muzzleloading charges. It's recoil pad is not as good as the Remington SPS and the weight of the gun is almost identical. It is rare to find a .300 Winchester that is relatively pleasant to shoot - nice job, T/C.
