While I'm a huge fan of the 260rem and while there's not to many game animals that I wouldn't feel under gunned hunting with one, the 308win is one of the best all round calibres available and there are plenty of choices in both rifles and ammo to choose from and the recoil is still very mild. I shoot both a 260rem and a 308win one handed off of a door frame while holding a spotlight with the other and they are both still pleasant to shoot.
