Well I went down to my locker to search for an answer to your question. And I found the answer, actually the answer came three times and it was always the same.
Ruger 10/22. How can you go wrong.
Out of the box it'll last a couple lifetimes easily with proper care, cleaning and maintenance. Or you can customize it to your heart's desire. I don't believe there in another .22 with more custom and aftermarket parts available.
About $170 to start.
Go to Ruger firearms and search their offerings of .22's. And make sure you have some time set aside to browse. THERE'S ALOT OF CHOICES!
