I can sometimes get sloppy and refer to the species wild boar as simply boar. But thats just because Im lazy.

Is hog a eqvivalent of pig?

All pigs are hogs. the term "pig" means a young hog or swine, usually under two months or 60 pounds . hog refers to older members of the swine fraternity. A hog producer would probably produce swine for slaughterf and up to slaughter weight. and hAVE THE BREEDING HERD ETC ETC.
