Default RE: PA turkey hunters

I think what they are trying to say , is a head shot on a turkey is a target the size of a Pea. If your good enough to hit that target everytime you shoot your 22 then Yes you will kill the bird in a close range. If the turkey moves just a touch on the shot , you have a wounded turkey on your hands and one that will die some place and may not be recovered. A turkey that some young lad that has never shot a bird in his life will never have the chance of doing.

I understand your thoughts here , but this is why most turkey hunters use Shotguns while hunting them. The brain of a Turkey is only the size of a Pea. A tight shot pattern of a shotgun has a higher percentage of hitting that mark or the neck without having a high percentage of birds running off Wounded.

Out West some States allow Rifle hunting and it is fround against , but the Rifles are generally Higher in calibur and they are taking Body shots at distances , that again can cause safety hazzards towards other hunters...BT
