I Have an old Weaver K4 on my plains rifle. I used the T/C quick detach mounts on it. The whole set up works fine where I hunt and the rifle it is on.
You don't always need a variable scope which do cost more than a fixed power.
I like my 4 power fixed scope for the ranges I hunt. If I were going to hunt yardages beyond 150 yards I might think about a 6 power.

All this babbling is trying to get the point across that you can buy a better (brandname)quailty scope for less money if it's a fixed power.
