I would suggest figuring out all the other specs for your arrows and save picking out your fletching last.

Here is the reason why:
I had a very high percentage FOC and an arrow spine that could use some stiffening. Iwanted to placesome weight on the back of my arrows. More weight back there brought my FOC into range and stiffened up my spine a little.I went with the VaneTech vanes because they are very durable, thus slightly heavier than normal 4 inch vanes. The four inch vanes added 29 grains to my arrows, some of that is glue weight.

In short use your vane type/weight to work for you. Your vanes can be a compliment to your arrows and copying what somebody else has may not be what works best for you. Figure out what FOC you need or preferand go with light weight vanes or heavier vanes.
